Who we are
Paths to Presence exists to support people in seeing themselves more clearly and learning how to work with the patterns that shape their lives. Whether through individual coaching or Enneagram teaching and workshops, the work here is grounded in awareness, compassion, and practice, helping personal insight translate into real, lived change.
At Paths to Presence, the Enneagram is used as a practical framework for understanding motivation and attention, especially the patterns that tend to operate automatically. Rather than focusing on fixing personality or striving to become a “better” type, this work invites people to notice how they are showing up, create space for choice, and respond more intentionally in daily life and relationships.
Paths to Presence is led by Andrew Bowles (he/him), a Certified Narrative Enneagram Teacher with over fifteen years of engagement with the Enneagram. Andrew’s approach has been shaped through work in healthcare settings, faith communities, teaching contexts, and one‑to‑one support, and integrates reflective practice, psychological insight, embodied awareness, and attentiveness to meaning and values.
Spiritual questions are welcome here but never assumed. This work is coaching and Enneagram‑informed teaching, not spiritual direction or psychotherapy, and clients from any spiritual tradition, cultural background, sexual orientation, gender identity, or none at all are met with respect, curiosity, and care. If you’re unsure whether this work is a good fit, you’re always welcome to reach out for a conversation.

“Unless we know the basic mechanics behind the workings of the ego, we won’t recognize it, and it will trick us into identifying with it again and again. The act of recognizing the ego is one of the ways awakening happens. Arising consciousness makes this recognition possible.”
Why I Use The Enneagram?
I use the Enneagram because it offers a clear and compassionate way to notice the patterns that shape how we experience the world. Rather than focusing on behavior alone, it points toward the motivations, internal biases, and attention patterns that tend to operate beneath the surface, often outside of our awareness.
Over time, I’ve found that when people can recognize these patterns with curiosity rather than judgment, something shifts. Self‑understanding deepens, reactivity softens, and more choice becomes available. The Enneagram supports this kind of awareness not by telling us who we are, but by helping us see what’s already happening.
Most importantly, the Enneagram encourages compassion, both for ourselves and for others. When we understand how different motivations and worldviews shape our responses, blame gives way to empathy, and growth becomes less about fixing and more about practicing presence.
In my work, the Enneagram remains a trusted companion for self‑awareness and change, used not as an answer generator, but as a practical framework for noticing patterns and responding more intentionally in everyday life.
About Our Logo
The Paths to Presence logo is inspired by the image of a labyrinth. Unlike a maze, a labyrinth has a single path: as long as you keep walking, you don’t get lost. There are turns and reversals along the way, but the path eventually leads you to the center—and then back out again.
This reflects how we understand inner work. The journey isn’t always linear, and it isn’t about avoiding difficulty. It’s about continuing to show up, noticing where you are, and allowing the path itself to shape you over time.
At the center of the labyrinth is a flame, symbolizing Presence—what many traditions might call Essence or Being. It represents what remains when we loosen our grip on habitual patterns and defenses and reconnect with what is most alive and true in us.
The name Paths to Presence reflects this movement: not a single moment of arrival, but an ongoing practice of returning to center again and again. The work is not about bypassing our humanity, but about learning how to live it more fully, with awareness and care.
