Who I Am

Paths to Presence exists to support people in seeing themselves more clearly — and in learning how to work with the patterns that have been shaping their lives, often without their awareness.

I use the Enneagram as a practical framework for understanding motivation and attention: not to fix personality or strive toward a "better" version of your type, but to help you notice what's already running, create space between impulse and response, and engage more intentionally with your daily life and relationships.

I'm Andrew Bowles (he/him), a Certified Narrative Enneagram Teacher, Accredited Professional with the International Enneagram Association, and founding Vice President of the Enneagram Texas Affiliate of the IEA, with over fifteen years of engagement with the system. My work has been shaped by years in healthcare settings, faith communities, and one-to-one support — contexts where self-awareness isn't abstract, it's what makes the difference. I bring embodied awareness and attentiveness to meaning into the work because, in my experience, those are the two things that keep insight from staying only in your head.

Spiritual questions are welcome here but never assumed. My work is enneagram-informed coaching and teaching — not spiritual direction or psychotherapy. Clients from any spiritual tradition, cultural background, sexual orientation, gender identity, or none at all are met with respect, curiosity, and care. If you're unsure whether this is a good fit, you're always welcome to reach out for a conversation.

Life is our greatest teacher. Whatever we are doing can be instructive, whether we are at the office, or talking to our spouse, or driving a car on the freeway. If we are present to our experiences, the impressions of our activities will be fresh and alive, and we will always learn something new from them.

Why I Use The Enneagram?

I use the Enneagram because it offers a clear and compassionate way to notice the patterns that shape how we experience the world. Rather than focusing on behavior alone, it points toward the motivations, internal biases, and attention patterns that tend to operate beneath the surface, often outside of our awareness.

Over time, I’ve found that when people can recognize these patterns with curiosity rather than judgment, something shifts. Self‑understanding deepens, reactivity softens, and more choice becomes available. The Enneagram supports this kind of awareness not by telling us who we are, but by helping us see what’s already happening.

Most importantly, the Enneagram encourages compassion, both for ourselves and for others. When we understand how different motivations and worldviews shape our responses, blame gives way to empathy, and growth becomes less about fixing and more about practicing presence.

In my work, the Enneagram remains a trusted companion for self‑awareness and change, used not as an answer generator, but as a practical framework for noticing patterns and responding more intentionally in everyday life.

About Our Logo

Circular maze with a flame symbol at the center.

The Paths to Presence logo is inspired by the image of a labyrinth. Unlike a maze, a labyrinth has a single path: as long as you keep walking, you don’t get lost. There are turns and reversals along the way, but the path eventually leads you to the center—and then back out again.

This reflects how we understand inner work. The journey isn’t always linear, and it isn’t about avoiding difficulty. It’s about continuing to show up, noticing where you are, and allowing the path itself to shape you over time.

At the center of the labyrinth is a flame, symbolizing Presence—what many traditions might call Essence or Being. It represents what remains when we loosen our grip on habitual patterns and defenses and reconnect with what is most alive and true in us.

The name Paths to Presence reflects this movement: not a single moment of arrival, but an ongoing practice of returning to center again and again. The work is not about bypassing our humanity, but about learning how to live it more fully, with awareness and care.
