What do you reach for
when reality becomes difficult?
Our patterns carry real wisdom. The work is noticing when they have taken over and deciding what this moment actually needs.
The Enneagram helps us recognize the patterns we automatically use to manage uncertainty, disappointment, conflict, and pain. I help people understand the wisdom in those patterns, notice when they have become compulsory, and create room to respond with greater awareness and choice.
This isn’t quick work. But it’s real.
You may be here because something familiar is no longer working…

You do not need to arrive with clarity.

A DIFFERENT WAY OF WORKING WITH THE ENNEAGRAM
Every pattern carries wisdom.
Every pattern also has a cost.
Adaptive
01
Our strategies develop for a reason. They help us find connection, safety, identity, and stability.
They helped us get this far in life.
Automatic
02
What once helped keeps helping. Until it starts showing up even when it doesn't fit.
In other words, our gifts are gifts until they’re not.
Aware
03
Awareness helps us see the pattern while it is happening. Compassion helps us stay with what we see.
That is where choice becomes possible.
A SIGNATURE LENS IN MY WORK
How do you reach for the light switch?
When reality becomes painful or unresolved, the Enneagram’s Harmonic Triads describe three broad ways we try to regulate the experience.
POSTIVE OUTLOOK
Hope.
Reframing. Silver Linings. Relief.
COMPETENCY
Capability.
Objectivity. Structure. Direction.
REACTIVE
Emotional Truth.
Honesty. Depth. Engagement.
None of these responses is wrong. Each may be exactly what a moment needs. The problem begins when one response becomes the only one available to us.
Most of what I understand about this work was tested outside the classroom
I'm Andrew Bowles, a Certified Narrative Enneagram Teacher, IEA Accredited Professional, ordained minister, and Board-Certified Chaplain.
I have studied the Enneagram for more than fifteen years. At the same time, I have watched its patterns reveal themselves in hospital rooms, family meetings, spiritual questions, seasons of grief, and conversations with healthcare professionals carrying burnout and moral distress.
Those experiences taught me to ask more than which pattern is present. I want to understand what it is protecting, how it has helped, and whether it still fits the reality in front of us.
My work has also been featured in podcasts and conversations exploring the Enneagram, contemplative practice, and meaning-making.
